Applies only to the typing boxes for room chat and whispers. It does not change what other people see.

Shows a confirmation dialog when you refresh, navigate away, or close the tab.
Keeps a plain text log of this room in memory for copy or download. Style tags and formatting codes are removed. Up to five room logs are retained during this browser session; starting another clears the least recently active inactive log. Turning logging off discards the current room log.

Sounds
Choose the sounds you hear for whispers, mentions, and room activity.
Play a sound when a new whisper arrives.
Mentions
Help people get your attention by using @yourname.
Shows nick autocomplete while typing and highlights direct @mentions to you. Per-line alerts are capped to reduce annoyance.
Plays mention.mp3 for direct @mentions. Repeats from the same sender are rate-limited to reduce annoyance.
Highlight Words
Make important words or phrases stand out in room messages.
Separate entries with commas or new lines. Up to 30 entries are used.
Prevents the word cat from matching inside the word category. Phrases still match normally.
Off by default, so Radio and radio are treated as the same word.
Uses the existing mention sound and rate-limits repeated matches from the same chatter.
Shows an operating-system notification for a match only while Chat V5 is hidden or unfocused.
Desktop Notifications
Show a notification when chat is hidden or another window is in front.
Shows an operating-system notification when someone directly mentions you and the chat window is hidden or unfocused.
Shows an operating-system notification for new whisper requests and accepted whisper messages.
Off by default for privacy. When off, notifications identify the sender and event without showing the message.
Your browser will ask for permission the first time you enable a notification option.
Whispers
Control whether new whisper requests are allowed.
When off, new whisper attempts are rejected (WHISPOFF). Staff can still whisper you.
When on, new whispers from guest nicknames starting with > are rejected (WHISPOFF). Staff can still whisper you.
When on, each whisper opens in its own movable pop-up window.
Away Status
Choose whether sending a room message automatically marks you as back.
On by default. When off, room messages and /me actions leave you marked away until you press Back or use /unaway.
Invites
Control whether inbound room invites are shown (v4 parity).
When off, room invites are hard-suppressed (no chat line, no activity line, no sound).
Knocks
Show room knock requests for owners+ (v4 parity).
When off, knock notices are hard-suppressed. Knocks are shown only to owners+.
Legacy Broadcasts
Use v4-style room/server broadcast routing, modernized for V5.
When on, room and server broadcasts are shown in both Room and Activity like v4. Sticky V5 broadcast banners are hidden.
User Notices
Block private NOTICE messages from other users (v4 parity).
When off, private notices are hidden. Room notices and CTCP replies (TIME/VERSION) still work.
Ignored Users
Ignores are stored locally on this device. Registered users are saved by Passport, guests are session-only.
Use the People list menu to Ignore/Unignore. Clearing removes all saved ignores.
Tagged Users
Tags are stored locally on this device. Registered users are saved by Passport, guests are session-only.
Use the People list menu to Tag/Untag. Clearing removes all saved tags.
Flood Protection
Optional display guardrails to keep the room readable during spam or bursts.
When one nick spams fast, collapse their burst into a single expandable line (display only, nothing is dropped).
Reset Webchat
Deletes all saved V5 settings on this device (local storage) and reloads.
Use this if settings get stuck or you want a clean slate.
